The definition of impotence is the inability to achieve and/or maintain an erection that is firm enough or lasts long enough to have successful intercourse. One in 10 men are affected by continuing or chronic impotence. Unfortunately, it is difficult to talk about. The first step is to seek professional help.
The good news is most impotence causes can be treated successfully! In more than half of all impotence, the cause is physical - the result of diabetes, a hormone problem, blocked arteries, etc. In other cases, the cause is psychological - the result of stress or depression. Impotence is not a problem you should have to live with, or that will simply go away. It's important to see a doctor.
Depending on your diagnosis, your recommended impotence treatment may be surgical. Medical impotence treatments range from simply changing your prescription drugs, hormone replacement therapy, antidepressant therapy, the use of a vacuum erection device, or self-injection therapy to produce erections. Surgical impotence treatment involves the implantation of a penile prosthesis.
